Computing Semantic Relatedness using DBPedia

چکیده
Extracting the semantic relatedness of terms is an important topic in several areas, including data mining, information retrieval and web recommendation. This paper presents an approach for computing the semantic relatedness of terms using the knowledge base of DBpedia — a community effort to extract structured information from Wikipedia. Several approaches to extract semantic relatedness from Wikipedia using bag-of-words vector models are already available in the literature. The research presented in this paper explores a novel approach using paths on an ontological graph extracted from DBpedia. It is based on an algorithm for finding and weighting a collection of paths connecting concept nodes. This algorithm was implemented on a tool called Shakti that extract relevant ontological data for a given domain from DBpedia using its SPARQL endpoint. To validate the proposed approach Shakti was used to recommend web pages on a Portuguese social site related to alternative music and the results of that experiment are reported in this paper. 1998 ACM Subject Classification H.3.3 Information Search and Retrieval

DBpediaNYD - A Silver Standard Benchmark Dataset for Semantic Relatedness in DBpedia
Determining the semantic relatedness (i.e., the strength of a relation) of two resources in DBpedia (or other Linked Data sources) is a problem addressed by quite a few approaches in the recent past. However, there are no large-scale benchmark datasets for comparing such approaches, and it is an open problem to determine which of the approaches work better than others. Furthermore, larget-scale...
متن کاملUsing proximity to compute semantic relatedness in RDF graphs
Extracting the semantic relatedness of terms is an important topic in several areas, including data mining, information retrieval and web recommendation. This paper presents an approach for computing the semantic relatedness of terns in RDF graphs based on the notion of proximity. It proposes a formal definition of proximity in terms of the set paths connecting two concept nodes, and an algorit...
متن کاملQuery Expansion Using Wikipedia and Dbpedia
In this paper, we describe our query expansion approach submitted for the Semantic Enrichment task in Cultural Heritage in CLEF (CHiC) 2012. Our approach makes use of an external knowledge base such as Wikipedia and DBpedia. It consists of two major steps, concept candidates generation from knowledge bases and the selection of K-best related concepts. For selecting the K-best concepts, we ranke...
متن کاملUsing the Structure of DBpedia for Exploratory Search
Recently there has been much work in defining similarity on heterogeneous networks in a supervised manner, using prescribed patterns based on the network schema. However, there is also a wealth of data that doesn’t ascribe rigidly to fixed schemas, such as DBpedia. In this work we explore the idea of using DBpedia for computing semantic relatedness in the context of an exploratory search. We fi...
متن کاملWhat SPARQL Query Logs Tell and Do Not Tell about Semantic Relatedness in LOD Or: The Unsuccessful Attempt to Improve the Browsing Experience of DBpedia by Exploiting Query Logs
Linked Open Data browsers nowadays usually list facts about entities, but they typically do not respect the relatedness of those facts. At the same time, query logs from LOD datasets hold information about which facts are typically queried in conjunction, and should thus provide a notion of intra-fact relatedness. In this paper, we examine the hypothesis how query logs can be used to improve th...
